City of Blaine Manufactured & Mobile Home Repair
Project Purpose
The ultimate purpose of this project is the creation of a program for the repair of deteriorated City of Blaine manufactured and mobile homes. The project also includes the complete replacement of homes that are not able to be rehabilitated in a cost effective manner with new or used homes for the existing owners.
The city has contracted the services of independent consultants to conduct interviews and free confidential home inspections in two proposed communities: Centennial Square and Restwood Terrace.
The Project
Surveying
The City of Blaine is conducting a survey and canvass of residents who own their home in the Centennial Square and Restwood Terrace communities.
The purpose of the surveying is to help the City of Blaine determine how to best assist owners of older manufactured homes in making their homes safer, healthy, and energy-efficient.
Free Confidential
Home Inspections
During the canvassing, households that agree to an interview and an assessment will be scheduled a time to meet with an interviewer and contractor at their home.
The interviewer will ask questions about your finances, how you feel about your home, and what programs you might be interested in.
The contractor will inspect various aspects of your home and ask you questions about issues you may have.
If you agree, we may also schedule a fire fighter from SBM fire to complete a home safety survey and install new smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.
Home Repair & Replacement
The results from the surveying information will help determine if there is a need to expand existing home repair programs or create other programs to assist owners in replacing their homes.
Home owners will have the option to participate in improvement assistance programs sponsored by the city and non-profit groups.
